Mejora del proceso de trabajos de grado en la unidad CRAI de la Universidad Autónoma de Occidente mediante la metodología Lean Six Sigma

Although of the advances in the implementation of improvement projects in Higher
Education Institutions (HEIs), these have been carried out without following a
general specific model that defines clear principles, stages, activities and tools for
their successful implementation in this type of education. organizations, which clearly
differ from the manufacturing companies where the Lean Six Sigma (LSS)
methodology was created. The HEIs have different processes such as the review of
degree works to grant the library peace and save, which is taking longer than
expected. For this reason, the present research aims to design the improvement
project through the LSS model for the aforementioned process. From the application
of this methodology, it was possible to diagnose the current state of the process, as
well as to identify the needs of the interested parties, among which are: improve the
percentage of corrections of bibliographic norms, decrease the response time of the
student request and improve the effectiveness of the document review. Finally, an
action plan was proposed that allowed the continuous improvement of the process,
mainly from the application of LSS tools aligned to provide quality, effectiveness and
service to the process. The most important contributions of these proposals are: a
minimum period was defined for the students to make the corrections made to the
document, it was proposed to implement a certification for the student to take a
course of application in bibliographic norms, an advertising strategy was established
for make the process known to the university community and it was proposed to
guarantee the service provided by the students who support the process,
establishing certified training for these students. From the application of these
strategies, it is expected to reduce the delivery time of the process by up to 54%,
increasing the Value Added indicator from 8% to 17% and increasing the First Pass
Yield index by up to 40%
