The main purpose of this present document was to carry out a multi-criteria analysis, as a tool for the selection of the most sustainable energy alternative for the context of the Jerusalem farm in the department of Cauca. In this sense, in the first instance, the concept of sustainability, its historical development and its implications in the context of environmental engineering were theoretically discussed. Second, consideration was given in this document to the different available and viable energy sources in the national and departmental contexts applicable to the case study, with wind, solar, natural gas, biomass energy, biodigestion and Diesel power plant being widely discussed. In methodological terms, the multi-criteria analysis was used to select objectively and sustainably for the context of the Jerusalem Treasury, this through the TOPSIS routine, since this method demands the identification, measurement and weighting of a series of criteria registered in the subsystems relative to the discussed concept of environmental sustainability; In the present project ten criteria weighted by self-directed surveys were chosen for professionals with experience in their fields of action; From this analysis, the main finding was the identification of the solar energy source as the most sustainable from the technical, economic and environmental point of view, which also guarantees the long-term quality energy supply
