This document establishes the development of tools for an energy management system to generate energy saving opportunities in a Valle del Cauca foundry company, within the framework of the PEVI Industrial Evaluation Project, aimed at the small and medium-sized industrial sector ( SMEs) of Valle del Cauca, which takes as reference the ISO 50001 standards that establish the requirements of an energy management system. In order to increase efficiency in processes that involve energy, an analysis of energy consumption is carried out through an energy characterization of the company relating the areas of significant energy use. With the implementing of a preliminary diagnosis, the state of energy consumption is assessed qualitatively and quantitatively, performance indicators, baseline and goal are established to determine the potential for energy savings. Specific, attainable and evaluable goals are established, once this information is synthesized, action plans are proposed regarding the saving and rational use of energy. With the activities carried out, it was possible to estimate the energy saving potentials for each production level in the base period, with a total of 7728.28 kWh, which translates into the saving of COP $ 2,441,519. On the other hand, through the proposals generated, a new methodology for recording data related to the induction smelting area was established within the company, in addition to an annual saving of COP $ 10,178,942.4 regarding the improvement of both the cooling system as of the preparation and loading of the raw material.
