Plan de sostenibilidad ambiental para la Asociación Colombiana de Ingeniería Sanitaria y Ambiental ACODAL Seccional Occidente.
Trabajo de grado - Pregrado
The Colombian Association of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering ACODAL Seccional Occidente, is a nonprofit association of private law, formed for the benefit of its members, belonging to the water, sanitation and environment sector. ACODAL Seccional Occidente, despite developing its work in the environmental sector, currently has not developed well-structured strategies to mitigate the most significant environmental impacts generated by its activities. Given this, an environmental sustainability plan was proposed, through the diagnosis of the current situation regarding the use of water, supplies, energy and generation and final disposal of solid waste in the branch, the proposal of priority actions for aspects and impacts most significant environmental and finally the estimation of the costs of initial investment, maintenance and operation of the proposal and its economic benefits. Within the diagnosis made, significate consumption in water and energy was found due to the age of the installed devices. In addition, it was found that the classification of solid waste was being carried out incorrectly, and, given the low volume of organic waste generation, they were in a high degree of decomposition, before being disposed of in the composter. Also, a high consumption of paper was found, mainly due to the photocopying of necessary manuals for courses that are dictated at the headquarters. In addition, the classification of solid waste was being carried out incorrectly, and, given the low volume of generation of organic waste, they reached a high degree of decomposition, before being disposed of in the composter. Also, high consumption of paper was found, mainly due to the photocopying of necessary manuals for courses that are dictated at the headquarters. Due to this, priority actions were considered for the significant environmental impacts found. Among which proposed, replace all old devices, reorganize the separation in the source of waste and suspend the compost, and also digitize documents. The economic benefits of the plan allow to return the initial investment in a period of time between 8 to 9 years, because it is possible to reduce water consumption by 40%, the electrical consumption of the devices replaced by 50% and the consumption of paper by 70%
